Re: Revision to Lorry Loaders and Sea and Pier Crane courses

We are pleased to announce that Lantra Awards have revised training courses in the Cranes and Lifting category. The Lorry Loader courses (LAA3601 to LAA3629) and Sea and Pier crane courses (CLVC00X and CLVC04X to CLVC06X) which will be replaced with Mounted Hydraulic Operated Cranes (MHOCs) courses with the option to endorse with the specific attachment(s). The Product Directory will be amended to list three Lorry Loader and three Boat* and Pier crane courses which will be based on duration only depending on the operators experience. The duration of the course will range from 1 to 3 days depending on experience.

* The Sea crane courses have been retitled as Boat crane

The revised courses / training materials will be active and available for course delivery as of 31st October 2011.

The new product directory codes and titles are detailed below:

MHOC03X - Mounted Hydraulic Operated Crane Lorry Loader– Novice (3 days) Grab
Hook Clamshell Hydraulic clamp Auger Other (this must be confirmed prior to booking)


MHOC02X - Mounted Hydraulic Operated Crane Lorry Loader – Semi-experienced (2 days)

Key changes
• The generic sessions in the workbook have been updated where reference is specific to the MHOC this has been highlighted in the workbook and instructor manual.
• There are separate sessions in the instructor manual for the type of MHOC being trained on.
• The sessions have been restructured for a logical progression route when delivering the training.
• The courses have been retitled to simplify booking the courses.
• A maximum of two attachments can be booked on the semi-experienced and experienced courses (2 days and 1 day). On the novice course only one attachment is permitted.
• Separate assessment sheets have been produce for each type of MHOC.
• Separate question papers have been produced specific to the type of MHOC.
• The lifting plan has been removed from the assessment sheet. Learners will still be required to have knowledge on the lifting plan but will no longer be tested.

Product Directory

Following customer feedback the product development team have redesigned the product directory to reflect a more user friendly approach. This is now available in the downloads section. 

We have made several changes which include:

• The directory has changed from a word document to excel
• We have listed both technical awards and qualifications in one directory
• Qualifications now include prices for all QCF units 
• We have linked product portfolio sheets direct to the course title for easy access to product information – there are some gaps and will address these areas soon

4x4 Off Road Driving – Revision

We are pleased to confirm that the Lantra Awards training courses for 4x4 Off Road Driving have been revised.

Revised courses / training materials will be available for course delivery as of 30th August 2011. The product directory codes and titles are detailed below:

• CLVF01X - 4x4 Off Road Driving (Professional)*
• CLVF02X - 4x4 Off Road Driving (Recreational)*
• CLVF04X - Off Road Driving (Experienced driver)*
* whilst the course codes remain the same please note there has been a change to the titles

Key changes include:

• Enhanced layout of workbook, with more up to date technical information.
• Generic content providing versatility to accommodate all types of 4x4 vehicles..
• Improved information on Health & Safety legislation and safety guidelines for operating an off road vehicle.
• Additional session on traction, including information on differential, differential lock, traction control and limited slip differentials applicable to modern vehicles.
• Added wording on transmission providing an explanation of each type with labelled diagrams.
• Information on vehicle recovery the type of equipment and correct procedure to recover a vehicle.
• The instructor manual has been reintroduced as an instructor guide with detailed session plans.

Utility Arboriculture – Revision

We are pleased to confirm that the Lantra Awards training courses for Utility Arboriculture categories Site Safety Awareness and Site Operations have been revised.
Revised courses / training materials will be available for course delivery as of 1st August 2011. The product directory codes and titles are detailed below:

• UASA01X/R - Site Safety Awareness
• UASO02X/R - Site Operations: use of insulated rods, tree pruning, felling and climbing*
• UASO12X/R - Site Operations: use of insulated rods, tree pruning, felling and climbing*
* please note slight change to title of course

Key changes include:

• Materials have been updated to reflect changes in G55/2 including;
• Improved illustrations
• Instructor manual upgraded to instructor guide aligning sessions to workbook

Booking a course on-line could not be simpler. The easy to follow five stage process, combined with the flexibility and convenience of being able to log on and register a course at any time of the day makes course registration hassle free and less time consuming.

Although the site has been developed primarily for registering courses, the system also benefits from additional features such as:

10% discount applied to all courses registered on-line

As you will see we are still developing some of the areas of the system, as and when updates are released notification of the new areas will be displayed on the Welcome Page. Currently the system allows you to:

Track an order

Search for Instructors

The system will be constantly reviewed and updated. All of the changes plus any new features or future developments can be found on the “News ” section of the Lantra Awards website and or will be notified via the newsletter.
